Introduced between 1976 and 1985, these trucks are mainly flatbeds and covered wagons used to transport material and troops. Introduced as the mil gl (for "militarisiert geländegängig" - military, cross country mobile), the MAN KAT 1 series is used by all branches of the Bundeswehr.
